Ella Catherine's Kindergarten Graduation

Hard to believe the school year is already over and Ella Catherine is graduating from Kindergarten.  Her school has 8 kindergarten classes.  So, they paired two classes together for each graduation and there were 4 total graduations spaced 30 minutes apart.  The teachers chose 1 student from each class to read part of a poem at the ceremony.  It wasn't until I was getting her dressed the morning of graduation that she informed me she would be speaking at graduation.  To say that Matt and I were proud would be an understatement.  She was a little nervous but she did wonderful.

The graduation was on a Friday morning so most of the family couldn't make it, but Nana and Pop made the trip.  Here is Ella Catherine with Nana and Pop holding her diploma

Ella Catherine's school has a children's concert every year to raise money for charity and allow the parents to hear what they have been working on in music class all year.  This year it fell on the night of Carter's birthday.  He was a trooper and was somewhat excited to see his big sister perform.  It was past Cassidy's bedtime so she stayed with our neighbors.

Singing away!  She did great!  Remembered every word.  Can not say I am surprised.  She has had a knack for remembering the words to songs since she was very little

Carter's 4th Birthday

Carter wanted a dinosaur themed party this year.  Carter and Ella Catherine helped me make his dinosaur cake.  He picked the frosting color and he and Ella Catherine added all the candies to make the dinosaurs scales and claws.  Since we have been having beautiful weather we decided to have the party at a local park.  Wouldn't you know that the weather would become extremely hot and humid the day of the party.  The kids didn't seem to mind the heat and there was a nice shaded shelter for the parents plus lots of cold water.  It was fun to see him running around with all his friends from school.  Most of the kids he has been in school with since he was 8 weeks old.  We had a great day celebrating our little miracle.

 

At 4 years old Carter is still the sweet, funny little guy he has always been.  His facial expressions crack us up!  However, Matt and I marvel almost daily at how quickly he is maturing.  His vocabulary is growing and the way he approaches situations is changing.  He is definitely beyond the toddler stage and rapidly approaching school age years.  We are so very blessed to be his parents.

Another tooth bites the dust

When I picked Ella Catherine up from school yesterday she said, " I have a surprise for you", then she smiled really big.  I was shocked!  I knew her top tooth was a little loose but I didn't think it was that loose.  She was super excited to have lost the tooth at school and to have pulled it out herself.  She is keeping the tooth fairy on her toes. 

Field Day 2013

Ella Catherine's first school field day was today.  She was super excited.  They didn't bring home individual ribbons but won the ribbons as a class.  Her class won first place in the relay race.  She couldn't remember what other events they received ribbons in but knew that they got a white ribbon and a yellow ribbon.  Most importantly she had a great day.

Ella Catherine and Carter helped me bake and then decorate Matt's birthday cake.  They were so proud of their creation.  They made Matt close his eyes and wouldn't let him open them until I had lit to candles. 

Ahoy Mateys

Today was dress like a pirate day at Ella Catherine's school.  She chose to dress like Izzy from Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  Made me want to go to school with her today.  We had also made her a pirate hat out of construction paper and she brought it to school and shared with a little boy who didn't dress up.  Love this girl!
