Walden Farm/Pumpkin patch

We took the kids to Walden Farms' Pumpkin patch again today. This year Matt was in town and was able to go with us. It was a beautiful afternoon and we all had fun enjoying all that October and pumpkin patches have to offer.

Playing in the feed beds and seeing different types of grains

Candy corn face painting

Fun with face cutouts

Although he looks miserable, I promise Carter had fun

How tall is Carter?

How tall is Ella Catherine?

Carter LOVED the goats and they loved him. I think they thought he had food. :)

How about this one? Again, he thought this was his pumpkin of choice but the other side had bigger pumpkins.

They had a remote control witch flying over head.

kid size maze...they did so well...no wrong turns

The afternoon wouldn't be complete for Ella Catherine without being able to make some sand art

or a fourwheeler ride for Carter

Not exactly the picture in the pumpkin patch I was looking for...Sun was in their eyes and Carter wasn't excited about his picture being taken. But LOVE them!!

We decided to paint instead of carve our pumkins this year. Instead of drawing something for them to paint, I let them just paint what they wanted. They were so excited with their little works of art.

A Family Project

Nana and Pop wanted to give the kids a playset for a joint birthday gift. We thought it was a great idea but we were still trying to get our yard in order. We only did some minor work in it when we first moved in last Summer. We had a lot we wanted to do and because of that we postponed getting the playset. Well, the yard is still a work in progress but it has come a long way. We finally cleared a space for the playset. With the beautiful fall weather, we couldn't think of a better time to get the playset.
So, I called a local playset company and placed our order. Obviously, others had the same idea as they stated it would be 4 weeks before they could install it due to other jobs. My parents intent was to give the playset installation included so that we wouldnt have to do anything but watch the kids enjoy it. However, we didn't want to wait 4 weeks and miss all the beautiful fall weather. So, we decided to install it ourselves. Make it a little family project.
Turns out it was way more involved than we imagined, but the instructions were FABULOUS!! All the peices had identification letter and numbers and the book went step by step in how to do it. The kids loved being able to help and it turned into a very fun family project.

The boxes it came in. Together they weighed 200lbs.

We layed out all the peices in alphabetical order and then in numerical order under that letter. this helped tremendously to check our inventory and in finding the right peices.

All the hardware....I'll admit seeing this was a bit overwhelming. But again we separated them into categories and then by numbers to make it easier to find the right screw, bolt, nut, washer etc...

Carter loved playing on the ladder after we put it together

Matt putting together the slide....truly the hardest part of the whole playset.

Ella Catherine holding it steady for daddy to bolt the peices together

Ella Catherine helping mommy hammer the ends in.

Ella Catherine put all the screws in and then Matt and I came behind her with the drill and screw driver and screwed them in.

Sliding down the slide

The finished product!!! Playhouse with bottom fort and an attached picnic table off the back, slide, swings and monkey bars. The kids LOVE it and have played on it nonstop.

Ella Catherine's First Sleepover

Ella Catherine had her first friend come over for a sleepover this past Friday night.(10/14/11). Her BFF, Taylor D, came home with us from daycare. Both girls were over the moon about the sleepover and Carter didn't know what to think. The girls had fun playing dress up, coloring, running around acting silly and watching a movie. Carter was but a step behind the whole evening. The girls were really sweet and let him play too(for the most part). It was a bit of a challenge to get them to settle down and actually go to sleep. They finally did and slept all night without a peep from anyone. They rose bright eyed and bushy tailed Saturday morning just bursting with energy. We had a little breakfast and a little more dress up before heading off to their Saturday morning dance class.

Daddy's company picnic

Matt's company had their annual company picnic this past weekend at a park in Brentwood. It was a beautiful day! Perfect day to let the kids run around and play while the adults socialized.
