Monday May 21st we had a little birthday party for Carter at school. He wanted to bring cupcakes in for everyone. I love these little parties. The kids are so cute and funny. I usually end up hearing all about their upcoming birthday activities or what they had for their birthdays. They get so excited and it is so refreshing. This was the last of a 3 day birthday celebration for turning 3!

Bowling Party

We definitely wanted Carter to have a "Special day" all to himself. His big day started off with his favorite breakfast, Pancakes. He and Ella Catherine got some playtime in with Aunt Katie and Uncle Michael before they had to head back to Memphis. Then, that afternoon we had a bowling party for him with some of his friends. He was so excited to have his best buddies come for his birthday. He was also excited that Mimi, Grandpa, Nana and Pop were still in town for the party. We played a little in the arcade before everyone arrived and then they bowled. It was a SUPER fun-filled weekend and my little man was SUPER tired at the end, but I think he had a great 3rd Birthday.

Carter it is so hard to believe that you are already 3 years old. You are my shy little guy that really doesn't like to be the center of attention. Although you are quiet, nothings gets past you. You are so sweetand have a tender heart but can be so hot tempered (hmmm where do you get that from?) You love sports, cars, and helping your daddy with any outdoor task. You are an animal lover esecially Elway. It is almost a daily occurance that we find you and Elway lying on the floor together, usually you using him as your pillow. Your sister continues to be your best friend (although you fight often). You are beside yourself when she is over at a friends house and demand that we go get her immediately. You make your daddy and I very proud everyday. You still have that grin that melts our hearts. We are so very blessed and thankful that God chose us to be your parents.

Carter's Birthday

Carter's Birthday was the same weekend as Ella Catherine's dance recital. So, it worked out really well for the grandparents. Since we don't live in the same city as either set of grandparents, they got 2 events for one drive. Carter's birthday was Sunday May 20th, but we decided to celebrate with the family Saturday evening after the recital. He was so cute. He kept saying "today is my birthday?" As is usual for my little shy guy, he was a little timid at first about opening gifts and being the center of attention. However, he quickly realized that presents meant new toys and got into a present opening groove pretty quickly. It was a BUSY Saturday but it was a GREAT day.

Happy Feet

Ella Catherine had her first dance recital on May 19, 2012. All the grandparents plus Uncle Michael and Aunt katie came in town to watch her strut her stuff. The girls in her class were just precious and Ella Catherine really had a good time this year in dance class. They performed a tap routine to the song Happy Feet. This was the first year their teacher wasn't on stage with them during the performance and they did a really good job remembering the dance. Unfortunately, our pictures of the actual performance didn't turn out that great, but I posted one anyway.

Impromtu Slumber party

We put the kids to bed tonight in their separate rooms/beds. When we went to check on them before we went to bed this is what we found. Both of them in Carter's twin bed. Too sweet! They slept like this all night long.

Weekend Warriors

When we had our driveway widened and they put the excess dirt in our backyard to help us try and level off our backyard/ decrease the slope, it created a very big mud pit. So, we new we were going to have to factor sod into our renovation budget. Matt called around about the sod and installation fee, and we quickly realized that we could save a lot of money by laying the sod ourselves. As we looked at our upcoming weekend schedule. we knew we needed to do it soon before it became too hot and this weekend was the only weekend in May that we were available to do such a project. Unfortunately, this was my weekend to work and also the last dance class for Ella Catherine before her dance recital. So when I say "we" laid the sod, it should really read Matt laid the sod and got some minor help from the rest of us. He did an amazing job and WE LOVE IT!!!
