Milestones!!!

Big Girl Bed!!!
1 month old Happy fellow!

A couple of milestones occured in the Lynch household this week. Ella Catherine decided that she no longer wanted to sleep in her little bed (aka crib) and Carter turned 1 month old!!!
First things first, the big girl bed was a big step not as much for Ella Catherine as for me. She has suffered from night terrors since she was about 3 months old. Our pediatrician told us that night terrors and sleepwalking go hand in hand. So, I have been reluctant to transition her for fear of her getting up in the night. This week it was time for me to face those fears. She decided that she no longer needed her little bed and told us Carter could have it. Guess she was more ready than mom. :) So far she has done well with the transition.
Our other milestone was Carter turning 1 month old. What a wild ride we had that first month. One we will never forget nor let him forget! We are just so thankful he is healthy and is home. He has been a very good baby so far. He is so laid back and happy. Such a joy.

Our Little Miracle

Carter had his follow up with the cardiologist today and it went VERY well. His ECHO and EKG all looked good. He still has some trivial mitral regurgitation but the pulmonary hypertension is completely gone. He weighs 10lbs 2oz and is now 24inches long. He is eating and sleeping well and is a very good baby. Dr. Doyle calls him a miracle. He still has no solid reason for all his cardiac problems nor for how well they resolved. We are all very happy that they did resolve and we can't thank everyone enough for all the prayers.

Fishing and Swimming lessons

You can tell by Ella Catherine's face that she isn't exactly excited about being in the cold pool.
After a little while she warmed up and Matt had her kicking all over the pool
Ready to go fishing with Daddy
Practicing her casting and reeling in.
First thing the next morning she had to have her pole and wanted to cast and reel, made Matt proud!

We have been trying to spend some one on one time with Ella Catherine since Carter has come home. We have been lucky because my mother has been here helping us adjust and so she could watch Carter for us. Last weekend Matt voiced he was going fishing and Ella Catherine asked if she could go. He was THRILLED!!!! The initial plan was just to go down to the river and scope out the area to see if there was a good fishing spot. When they got there Ella Catherine wanted her pole. We had not purchased her a pole yet, but Matt loaded her up in the truck and went to buy a pole. Being the good daddy that he is, he even bought her the Barbie fishing pole that came with a flower shaped tackle box. She was so excited!!! It was too late to go fishing that day but that didn't stop her and Matt from practicing casting and reeling in the "big one" in our living room. She has asked daily since then about fishing and is excited to have a day with daddy fishing this upcoming weekend.
Ella Catherine also started swim lessons this week. Matt has done an amazing job with her. She is not a huge fan of the bath and so we were concerned about how well she would like the pool. We had mixed experiences last year when we took her to the pool, which added to our concerns. The first day went as expected. She was sooo excited about swimming all day. She was excited to put on her suit and was chanting all the way to swim class. However, when it came time to get in the pool she was not so excited. Infact, it took much coaxing by both myself and Matt to get her in the water and it was ultimately Matt who slowly got her to get in. Unfortunately, the water in the pool was extremely cold! It didn't help our cause. Poor little girl's lips were quivering and slightly blue in color and she kept telling Matt how cold she was. She did very well despite the cold water and I can't thank Matt enough for braving the cold waters every day to teach her how to swim.

Welcome Home James Carter

We are so excited to announce that Carter was discharged from the hospital yesterday, 6/6/09. Matt and I were thrilled to finally bring our little man home. As you can see from the picture, his big sister was also thrilled for him to be home. He had a good first night at home and continues to eat well. So, we are hopeful that he will regain the weight he lost quickly.
We have a follow up with his pediatrician Monday and will see his cardiologist in a week.
We can't thank everyone enough for all the thoughts and prayers. We truly believe that it was all of you and your prayers that healed Carter.
Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Amy, Matt, Ella Catherine and Carter.

Turning the corner.

Carter on 5/29

Carter on 6/3/09

I wanted to share some very positive information with you, my wife called and gave me the following information. Carter is no longer requiring any type of assistance (forced oxygen, IV, or tpn), they have taken his pic line out, and he is being allowed to nurse for the first time in two weeks. He is having another echocardiogram performed today, and pending the results he could be released Saturday or Sunday. I wanted to thank everyone for theprayers, telephone calls and kind words over the last two weeks, they have been greatly appreciated and are examples of how caring and special are family and friends truly are. Please continue to pray for him.
More pictures to come.

So on behalf of Carter, Ella Catherine, Amy and myself
