Ella Catherine's school was closed 2/1/12 due to snow and possible icy conditions. Their was snow but the roads were crystal clear. Since she was staying home, Matt and I decided to let Carter stay home too. The kids didn't want any part of going outside at first. We played board games, playdoh and building blocks. However, after naptime they were itching to get outside. Unfortunately, they didn't get as much time as they would have liked because the sun went down and it got dark. However, we woke up Saturday to it snowing like crazy! They were so excited that they immediately went and put on their snow gear even before they had breakfast. They played for about 30 minutes and then came in for hot chocolate and breakfast. As soon as breakfast was settled, they went back outside. They spent the majority of the day outside. Ella Catherine collected some relatively clean snow and I made them some snow ice cream as a treat. They liked it so much that they grabbed a tupperware container and filled it with snow to put in the freezer and save for later. :) I tried to explain that it would turn to ice and when we took it out just melt into water, but they just couldn't grasp the idea. So, we have snow in our freezer.
